Are you in need of doing some repairs to a beloved garment in your wardrobe? Extend the life of your textile goods and gather in community with this multi-medium Make & Mend workshop!
Join Terracotta Moscow’s Candace Baltz and University of Idaho instructor and author/ illustrator of Clothing Alterations and Repairs: Maintaining a Sustainable Wardrobe Chelsey Byrd Lewallen in using the Japanese art of Sashiko visible mending to repair your clothing and create jewelry inspired by embroidered designs.

The workshop will include everything you need to create a Sashiko patch that can be directly stitched onto or adhered to fabric, and coordinating earrings or pendants that can be “stitched” after being fired and glazed.
A variety of Sashiko patterns will be available to stitch and can be taken home the same night as the workshop. All materials, tools, instruction, firing and dip-glazing included. All Ages, All Abilities Welcome and Celebrated. Participants will learn and practice beginner-friendly techniques including hand sewing techniques, clay jewelry charm creation, and glazing.
A gift basket including a copy of Clothing Alterations and Repairs: Maintaining a Sustainable Wardrobe, handmade pottery and a gift card to Terracotta, will be awarded to one lucky attendee at random.
